Help[Opinions] First and middle names are similar
What do you think about giving a middle name which is too similar to the first name. Would it create a problem? I like the name I choose, I don’t wanna change it but I don’t know if similar names would look good together.

It's impossible to say. Do you mean rhyming? Like Daniel Nathaniel or Michelle Noelle? Because that really would be a bad idea, and it souds like a deliberate attempt to be funny or silly.

Something like: Iris Ivy, or Isabella Sophia

Iris Ivy looks like a genetically modified plant. Isabella Sophia is normal in countries (think Spain and Italy) where female names typically end in -a, so that would be fine. If you like Iris Ivy but don't enjoy the GM thing, inserting another mn would help. Iris Abigail Ivy, for instance, breaks the sequence and sounds OK.

Isabella and Sophia are only similar style-wise, and stylistically similar middle names are fine. They don't sound a bit alike soundwise.
Iris Ivy is a real tongue-twister, and the fact they're both plants is a turn-off for me. Combos like that tend to sound like scents for hand lotion or something.

I don't think even rhyming names matters. No one uses middle names in daily life unless they choose to. Even forms usually only ask for middle initial. So it doesn't matter, choose whatever you want

I agree with the sentiment below that middle names aren't used much. My only hesitation, as a nerd, would be if the names were variants of each other, like Mary Marie, John Evan, or Charlotte Caroline. The child would get only one name really and you would look silly -- to a nerd like me at least. But there's no real harm in it either and if you love it then that's all that matters.
