For a pet
Mocha would be cute on a cat or a dog. On a person, it sounds silly and insubstantial. In general, I don't like naming people after food.

People talk about it as a skin color. Maybe because of the Ricky Martin song? That's what makes me not like it. It sounds more objectifying than a common food name like Sage or even a weird one like Tofu.
IRL, I don't think it'd be worse than Tawny or Velvet (and I have met both), whatever that tells you. I do like the sound itself.

I don't think it does. I would not want to be called Mocha.
It's a name for a brown female dog.
But the SSA says 5 girls were named Mocha in the US in the year 2000.

Except on a chocolate Lab puppy, and that's not even as original as all the people who name their chocolate Labs Mocha think.
