[Opinions] On a scale of 1 - 10, how dated is the name Angela? Is it ready for a comeback?
On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being "not dated at all" and 10 being "super dated"), where does Angela fall?Where I'm from (U.S.) Angela is a very "Gen X" name. Is it ready for a comeback or still too dusty?Do you think the other Angel alternatives (Angelica, Angelina, Angelique) are more attractive?

Angela's basic in a sweet classic way. It's dated enough that I wouldn't expect it to be uber popular anytime soon but not so much that I dislike it. I can still easily see it as a kid name. Maybe 3/10 dated, with 10 being unusably archaic?I like Angelica because I think it sounds baroque, and it's also botanical. I don't really prefer it to Angela; it's just different.Angelique sounds sassy and kind of austere. I picture a nun or a punk rocker. I like it but wouldn't use it.Angelina sounds more soft and princessy. The elaboration doesn't add to it imo. I don't think it's a bad name, but it's my least favorite.

I don't know any young ones, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if I met a few. I think of it as a minor classic.I don't mind it at all, though it's too religious for me to consider using it myself. I find the other versions - Angelica, Angelina, Angelique - too frilly and needlessly long.

I think it's not really dated. It isn't as popular now as when I was growing up, but it's like Rebecca or Sarah, it'll always get used and you really won't be able to assume anyone's age by just the name.
