[Opinions] Janet
I love the name Janet for a girl, and I always have. I’m wondering if you guys share the same love for the name Janet. To me, it sounds very timeless (despite being used a lot in the 1950s here); it has a rich history, and has existed for centuries. I know a teen girl named Janet as well; she loves her name. In my opinion, Janet is the nicest “J name” for a girl. What do you think about Janet?

I like Janet a lot. It makes me think of Janet from the Scottish border ballad Tam Lin (give it a listen here! https://youtu.be/47z5n7p9B3I), and of Jane Eyre, whom Rochester sometimes called Janet.

I love Janet. It's a sweet, familiar name. It's dated, yes, but it's likely on it's way back. My parents were told that Joshua was an old-man name back in 1972, my MIL was told the same thing about Alexander. Both those names have a timeless feel now, I think Janet will end to the same.

I like Janet; it sounds suitable for all ages, though I don't know when last I met a young one. It has the same pleasantly vintage air as Sally.

It’s okay. I prefer Janelle.

I think Janet is dainty and charming. I'd be delighted to meet a young girl named Janet amidst all the ones named Jasmin(e) and Jaylyn(n).

Don't really like it, very dated and first thought is Jackson

It's not really timeless; a timeless name doesn't feel dated, and Janet definitely dates to the mid-20th century in the US. It's not a terrible name, but I get this vibe of a rather stereotypically mannish-looking gym teacher with thick ankles and a hint of a mustache, barking at a lazy class to get moving.
