My full first name is
William, and I’m a man. Personally, I’ve only met one girl called
William; she went by
Willa (and hated her name). She was 23 years old. While I’m all for abolishing gender norms,
William is highly masculine in my opinion. I think it sounds weird on a girl, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it; I wouldn’t judge any girl called
William. The same opinion goes for a boy called
Elizabeth. It would not be my child, so I can’t say anything.
William and
Elizabeth are such common names here;
William for boys and
Elizabeth for girls. I told my trans friends about meeting this girl called
William; they assumed she was MTF trans, not cisgender (like she was). I thought it was cool to meet my first girl
William, though. Yet, I felt sorry, because she hated her name.
