Wait, tomorrow?! Doesn't the list usually come out the Friday before Mother's day? 0_o Don't get me wrong, I'd love if it was released early, but I'm pretty sure it's on the 12th for this year.
Anywho without further Ado, here are my predictions for 2022: 😊
∆ Top 10 for boys: Same batch of names but in slightly different order. Wouldn't be surprising to see Jack, but have no idea what name it would replace. Absolutely predict Oliver to be #1, but don't believe that's happening this year.
∆ Top 10 for girls: Predict Luna to enter, likely replacing Harper. I personally hope it does. Despite not really liking it, it's certainly much better than Harper. That name is nails on the chalkboard. Some over on a Reddit post I was reading predicted 'Eleanor' to enter the top 10s. I honestly don't think it will. I think it has a better chance the following year or so, if it does at all. Then again, Theodore made a huge jump last year so who knows. It would certainly be a pleasant surprise. 😊
∆ Top 20 for both:
Aria, Penelope, Asher, Hazel, Isla: Entering
Sofia, Avery, Mason, Ethan: Leaving
∆ Top 100 for both:
Clara, Emmett, Iris, Eloise, Maria, Raelyn-(hope not), Liliana, Vivian & Ayla: Entering
Everleigh & Peyton (G): Leaving. Sincerely hope I'm right on those two
∆ Names I predict to keep decreasing, or fall off the charts all together:
Brayden/Braden (Worst of the bunch, IMO)
Jaden/Jayden/Jaiden
Aiden/Aidan/Ayden
Yes, these dreaded -aiden/Aidan/aeden/ayden names seem to be coming to an end, for the most part anyway.

Jaxtyn/Jaxon (If last year was any indication)

Princess
Brooklyn/Brooklyn
Grayson/Greyson

Barbara & Nancy: (These ones are more of a wishful thought. Both are stuffy, INCREDIBLY dated and just overall unattractive. It literally boggles my mind how these two names are STILL among the top 1000. They're completely past due. I've never met Barbara or Nancy that wasn't over 50.

Charlotte, Amelia/Emilia, Isla, Freya, Violet (Maybe) Eleanor, Leo, Miles, Theodore/Theo, Theodora, Arthur, George, Elijah, Ophelia/Octavia (Especially if Olivia is still going strong) Jack, Levi, Maeve, Mavis, Margo, Freya, Kai, Kaia/Kaya, Maia/Maya, Raya, Mateo, Daphne, Faye, Josephine/Josie, Ruby, Aurelia, Delilah, Ivy, Eliana, Liliana, Lily, Eliza/Elizabeth, Oliver, Finn/Finley/Finnegan, Eleanor/Eleanora/Nora.

I predict Elowen to enter the charts. The again, I've been anticipating the same thing for number of years now. It would be nice if it finally did. Also wouldn't be too surprised to see Ingrid, Araya & maybe Finnick, especially if Finn/similar names continue to rise. Not entirely confident in that one. I just wouldn't really be surprised to see it chart.

I've run into quite a few my age (early thirties) and younger, though they were all either immigrants themselves or first-generation Americans. Nancy is used quite a bit among Hispanics, whereas Barbara is still used among Eastern Europeans (I've encountered the nickname Basia several times).
I hope you're right about the -ayden name trend altogether dying down. Without it I wouldn't mind the name Aidan at all (or probably Hayden, for that matter); but I'm completely worn out on the sound now.

From what I've seen over the past several years, most of these -Aidan/Aiden/Ayden/Aden/Aeden (God whatever else 😂) type names have been trending downwards on the charts, including Aiden/Aidan/etc. I also wouldn't really mind Aiden/Aidan either if it weren't for all those other names following it, so I completely know what you mean. It needs a long rest.

Also out of curiosity I decided to look up the ranking for these once uber trendy names from last year to the previous list (and just to see) Here's where they currently stand from 2020 to 2021. Indeed most of them seem to be going down, apart from a few exceptions.

I think it was Monday for a while, after Mother's Day. Then it changed to Friday, so I don't really know. Last year it was on the 6th. I hope the hurry up, haha ;)
I'm wondering how much Maeve will jump. I could even see it jumping straight into the top 20, even though that would be unusual. I hear it ALL of the time. Same with Juniper, Wren and Elowen, but I don't think they will jump quite as high.

I also predict Juniper and Wren to keep rising. Actually forgot about them. 😂 Maeve is certainly trending fast. I don't see it entering THAT far, but I wouldn't at all be surprised to see it enter the top 100. Maybe even Freya. Can absolutely see them entering the top 10's in a few decades, give or take. As for Elowen, I'm really hoping to see it chart. That would be awesome. The only slight downside to that however, is that 'alternative' spellings such as 'Elowyn' wouldn't be to far behind. 🫤 Elowen just looks so much nicer.
