No doubt fine in its own habitat, but redundant in Anglophone places, where Katharine, Catherine and all their variants have been so very prevalent for so very long. And I'm not confident about your projected etymology: not even sure what it might mean.

I think it's autocorrect, BtN says it's "each of the two".
