Help[Opinions] Willem
WDYTO Willem? I prefer the look of this spelling and that it's not as common as William. I know the Dutch pronunciation is almost a V at the start, but I like it pronounced like Willem Dafoe. Do you think it works outside of the Netherlands?

I think it's handsome and definitely usable outside of the Netherlands, largely because of Willem Dafoe.

I like it, but wouldn't use it unless I was dutch or afrikaner.

Willem is the standard spelling, with the V pronunciation, in South Africa as well as The Netherlands. I've never heard of Willem Dafoe or heard his name. All the Willem people I know and know of who went to an Anglophone country ended up using Will rather than condemn themselves to non-stop explanations.
