[Facts] Yanaika
Greetings.I'd like to learn about the etymology of this name. It seems to be of Dutch usage as well as Belgian French (in the form Yanaïka). At first glance, it doesn't look to be Dutch in origin - maybe it is borrowed from another language? Thanks in advance.

Probably just a variant on Yannick and/or Annika, maybe influenced by Maike, Maaike, Maika, Anaïs or other popular names with the "aï" sequence. Modern French speakers and probably Dutch speakers too LOVE to invent new versions of the Y- variants of John as well as sticking -ai- or -ae- in new places.

Most likely!I did some research and found out there was a Dutch actress named Yanaika Lempers (1943-1982), born Joanna Lempers.Plus, Yana was popular in Belgium during the 2000s, so it may be a combination of Yana with a Dutch diminutive suffix, possibly from Meike, for instance.
