[Opinions] How would you pronounce the name Yasmine?
Replies
If it's an American, I pronounce it just as Jasmine with a Y. If it's anyone else besides an American I'll pronounce it as yaz-MEEN. Of the 6 Yasmine's I've come in contact with in my life so far five of them went by the former way and only one used the iambic pronunciation. Whenever I'm in doubt, I just assumed that Americans are pronouncing things the "wrong" way and I'm usually right. I don't mean that as shade since I am an American so...

I've always pronounced it more akin to the French way: yaz-MEEN. Though I think a lot of people pronounce it YAZ-min (similar to the English pronunciation of Jasmine).
yas-MEEN would be my first guess, then just like Yazmin.
Yas to rhyme with "as" and "Mine" like the "minn" as in Minnie.
Yas to rhyme with "as" and mine like "mean". (jæz.min)
I would only use mɪn if it was Yasmin instead of Yasmine. But for Jasmine I would use mɪn because of the English word for the flower uses that syllable (despite how e on the end would normally make the i long.)

Yas, rhyming with jazz; mine like the first syllable in 'miniature'.
same
I would (stupidly) pronounce it as Yes-mean
yas-MEEN
YAHS-min (/ˈjas.mɪn/)
yas-MEEN
Yaz-MEEN.
(On a side note, I pronounce Jasmine as JAZ-min).
