I like just the first name Madelyn better!

It just sounds like Madeline.

Why? Why not just use Madeline / Madelyn?

A pathetic attempt at sweetness, succeeding only in being permanently juvenile. Maddie is a nickname, which is unsuitable as a full name before you even consider the meaning of 'mad', and Lynn is seriously dated. The effect would be best suited to a 1950s character wearing ankle socks with Baby Louis-heeled shoes, probably also ankle socks, and a very stiff petticoat.

I hate it, sorry. It's insubstantial and grating.

It’s not bad in my opinion, as a first and middle name combination; Maddie is actually a pretty name, in my opinion.

I prefer Madeline

Is Maddie a character in some TV program or something else? I see that it just hit the top 1000 in 2022. I too agree with the other posters, but Madeline would be nicer (or Madeleine, or even Magdalene/a). Is this for a human baby, a puppy , or a story?

It's fine. Boring but harmless. I agree that Madeline is superior.

I don’t like it. Why not just use Madeleine or Madeline?

I don't understand the comments saying "why not just use Madeleine or Madeline?" because those names sound nothing like Maddie Lynn. Even Madalyn, which is closer, still doesn't sound like Maddie Lynn.
I don't particularly like the name as it's too sweet/cutesy for me, I would want Maddie to be a nickname and not a full first name, and Lynn reads as very fillery; but it's obviously a totally different sound from Madeleine, Madeline, Madalyn, etc. It's not comparable to names like Anna Belle, Emma Lee, or Mary Ann which could easily be replaced by Annabelle, Emily, and Marianne because they sound the same (or basically the same but with a little more emphasis on the second name) when said out loud. "Madda Lynn" would sound like Madelyn, but nobody is going to skip over the "ie" in Maddie so much that it would sound like 'Madda'.

Definitely prefer Madeleine.Maddie is just not a given name to me, though it's a fine nickname. I'm also fully over the name Lynn - it's been so overused as a middle name and as a given name, it feels bland and insubstantial to me.
