Main character [27] James Dean "JD" Wedlock
JD, our main character, woke up in hospital after a car accident remembering nothing but the English language - not his name, not his family members, and certainly not the three people claiming they are engaged to be married to him. A charming, curious, observant, and resilient young man, JD tries to regain his memory and figure a way out of this mess. Before the crash, he was a photographer - but many of his photos, which could help reveal the mystery of who his fiancé is, are missing.
Mom [50] Heather Cassandra Wedlock
Dad [51] Harry Peter Wedlock
Heather and Harry met in high school. It was love at first sight. They were married right out of college, when Heather was 23 and Harry was 24. Their first son, James Dean - named after their favourite actor - was born soon after. Heather teaches art to high school students. She is a warm, supportive, and creative woman, but also strong-willed: without doubt the head of the Wedlock household. Harry is an accountant, diligent, pragmatic, and responsible - an oasis of calm during these tumultuous events.
Younger Brother [15] Colby Daniel "CD" Wedlock
CD was a surprise baby, born when JD was 12. He is an immensely energetic, outgoing, and imaginative boy who loves pulling elaborate pranks - at first, Heather and Harry assume JD's three potential betrotheds were roped into it by CD. CD wants to become a drummer. He also dabbles in photography, in order to emulate his older brother, whom he idolises. He rarely walks - mostly, he can be seen skateboarding everywhere.
Grandma [78] Irene Bertha Wedlock
Wise and experienced, Irene - Harry's mother - has done it all and seen it all. She's been through three husbands and countless career changes: it becomes a gag on the show that she begins stories with "when I was a nurse/teacher/lawyer/astronaut...". She has an air of grace and elegance about her.
Fiancé #1 [28] Alexandra Marigold Havisham
--Son [3] Sebastian Macaulay Havisham
Alexandra, though she comes from a rich family, is down on her luck, and has been for a while. It's not easy being a single mother in an unfamiliar city like New York, but she has grit and ambition on her side. She also has an air of whimsy and spontaneity about her. She claims she met JD when he was a photographer at a fashion show she was modelling on. After the show, she struck up a conversation, and the rest was history.
Fiancé #2 [35] Dr. Ermenegilda Bianca "Bianca" Gabrielli
Dr. Bianca Gabrielli is a renowned neurologist with a brisk, no-nonsense attitude. She claims they met as doctor and patient, when he sought advice for chronic headaches - and why would she lie about that? Doctor-patient relationships are, after all, strongly discouraged. Her story goes - JD was captivated by her expertise and intelligence. She too, was attracted to him, but she tried to keep their relationship strictly professional despite JD's endless flirtation. Finally, however, she could take it no longer, and confessed her feelings - something she had never done before. JD reciprocated, and the rest is history. Or this is what Bianca would like you to think. A side-plot in the sitcom is characters trying to figure out what her first name, which she is so embarrassed about, is.

Atlas Kelly owns a quaint independent bookshop known for its wide selection and mellow atmosphere, amplified by the fact three cats live there, and happily interact with customers: brothers Nimbus and Meteor, and the newest addition to the family, a female kitten called Cypress. Atlas is a thoughtful intellectual, gentle and reserved, and a hopeless romantic. According to him, JD and him were going to be married and to live in the flat above the bookshop with the three cats. He claims he met JD when the photographer came to document his shop opening, and that JD was enthralled by Nimbus and Meteor (Cypress not having been adopted yet). The cats do seem to like JD, lending credibility to Atlas' claim - but then again, they like everyone.
