Love Agafya because it reminds me of all those 19th century Russian novels I ate up in my teens. There was always an Agafya, if only as a maid. Marfa and Matvey were in there too a lot as minor characters, at least that's how it seemed. :0)

The only association I have with it is Agafya Lykova, the woman who was raised in near isolation in Russia. It sounds rather antiquated even older than Agatha.

Sounds kind of like an abbreviated rude phrase and looks like a rude acronym. Much prefer Agatha.

It looks like a keysmash but I kinda like it. I can see how it would be country bumpkin, kinda frumpy like Agatha. But I keep wanting to anglicize it (Agathea) just because tha "ga" and "fya" look awkward together.

Agree.
I would be surprised to see it on anyone younger than 100 years old.
Agafya sounds comical on a "classy" person.

I don't know how common it is but that's the vibe I get from it. I also find the sound unattractive.

I've never encountered this name before this moment.

It would look out of place outside its culture of origin. Agatha, I've always viewed as a respectable name with a deeply ugly sound. Agata is somewhat better. Agafya seems to confuse that hierarchy in my head.
