I think Will is nice but Bill is... dumpy? frumpy? stale?
Like, Will could be anyone, and it sounds fresh and hopeful. Bill is a very specific type of guy, and he's a very specific age, and he's kinda just an average joe but in a slightly creepy way.
Baby boomers are allowed to be called Bill, even though it still has that stale, awkward, unfashionable, scruffy feeling. But someone from any other age group being called Bill feels wrong on top of being outdated.
The good versions of this style are Mike, Scott, Joe, maybe even Jim. Bill and Frank are the gross versions IMO.
ETA: I know Liam is overused but I'm not sick of it yet, it feels fresh like Will to me.
