Back in the day there were two school-leaving examinations in South Africa: JC, or Junior Certificate in year 10 and SC or Senior Certificate in year 12. This system worked well, but then JC was scrapped and people who should have been receiving technical or professional training are now failing SC (now mostly knows as Matric) in droves. An avoidable disaster. I wouldn't expect to see JC as a human name, even today.

I don't care for this spelling since the Jaycees are a service organization here in the US. I do like the sound well enough and prefer the spellings Jacey, Jaci or Jacy. My favorite author is Larry McMurtry in one of his book series has a main character named Jacy. She isn't very nice in the first one but gets some better in the next ... and is dead by the third.I think it can also be a nn, for Jessica, Jacqueline or Jocelyn, or any combo of names beginning with j and c.
