It's so sweet and gentle. It makes me think of a sweet, gentle character from a show I used to watch as a kid, his name was Jasper. Gilbert Jasper would be cute.Gilbert Valentine, though, be still my heart! Gilbert Valentino is also amazing, I don't know which I would choose.

I have a direct cousin named Gilbert, so I would say that I'm rather used to it rather than being amazed or infatuated by it. He hardly ever goes by it though, but instead Gil, and when he was younger, was often referred to as 'Lil Gil' to differentiate himself from his father who was also a Gilbert. There was Big Gil and Lil' Gil. LOL!
I like Gil and can certainly classify it as one of my G.Ps, but I can take or leave Gilbert. From your list, I like these:Gilbert Leo
Gilbert Angelo
Gilbert Ivo
Gilbert Klaus
Gilbert Asa
Gilbert Hugo

Never known a real Gilbert and I've only known one fictional one. Gilbert Goodmate and the Mushroom of Phungoria is a game I grew up with and while I'd never use Gilbert on a baby, it's left me fond of the name for writing, a pet or use on a sim.I prefer the nickname Bertie (or Bert) to Gil, or even Gilby I think - just not a fan of Gil. Gilbert Valentine / Valentino
Gilbert Klaus
Gilbert AmbroseThese four are my favourite of your options. I think overall, I prefer Valentine / Valentino, but I can't choose between them!

I've known two Gilberts and both were awful (sleazeballs), so my opinion is rather biased. Gilbert Hugo & Gilbert Felix
Adding Gilbert Paul

One of my best friends in high school, who went to a different school, had a boyfriend there named Gilbert, and was always talking him up. So I have a positive impression, even though I never met Gilbert myself. I think Gil is a very friendly-sounding and masculine nickname, though. My friend also referred to his boyfriend with the nickname Gilley (Gillie? Gilly?) which is fun.I guess -bert names still put people off, but I think it's easy to not even notice the bert in Gilbert.
Of the combos you made, I like Gilbert Lucian, Gilbert Angelo, Gilbert Valentine ... it can misfit with some Latin middles, but I feel like Germanic middles make it seem too stuffy. Maybe not Gilbert Ives, I like that one. Also Gilbert Sufyan is interesting - gives me a "gold-colored" feeling.
