I'll speak to the name Salome.
I was born in Poland where the Polish form Salomea was once common. Centuries ago it was a royal name in Poland. Marie Curie was born Maria Salomea. It does not have a bad association with Salome the daughter of Herodias because it is also associated with St. Salome.
