So she named her twins after characters who are likely to have been lovers and who both met a tragic end??

She really needed to read less than half the book to figure out how awful an idea that is. It's my favourite book, but it's a one or the other deal. They're in an explicitly romantic and sexual relationship! Achillean relationships are literally named after them. Doing so little research into naming kids annoys me so much. Anyway, I slightly prefer Achilles as a name simce the pronunciation is more consistent, but I like Patroclus more as a character.

As much as I love Greek mythology I'm not crazy about Patroclus at all. Achilles is a bit better, but probably not a name I would use.

Nah, why would you want to give your kids incestuous names?

If only she'd gone on to read the entire story ... ! Then again, they had a good relationship. Better that than having boy-girl twins and naming them Rhett and Scarlett, or even Ashley and Melanie.Another problem could be nns. Patroclus = Pat is fine; Achilles = Kill, not so much.

Could be Kili, or Kilian if you're willing to stretch a bit

I'd be unwilling to use it at all! And Kili is pronounced like the Afrikaans word for 'tickle', so that really won't do.

I like both names separately, but both together is a bit much. It also feels a bit... awkward to name siblings after lovers.

Her next pair of twins will be called Orestes and Pylades, I guess?
