I don't like Violet or the way it shortens to Vi; same problem with Viola. I pronounce it like the musical instrument - vieOHla. As for Twelfth Night, I find that vieOHla fits comfortably into an iambic pentameter line, and VIEohla doesn't. Same rhythm as Maria (maRIEa), come to think of it.
