I prefer Samuel to Samson and Samantha to Samanta. That said, I dislike Sam names in general; we adopted a kitten once which had been called Sam, and I changed it to Jimmy. Not the best name ever, but one I greatly preferred.

A cousin of mine has a son named Samson, so he immediately springs to mind. It's not a name I would ever use myself, but I don't think it's terrible, even if it sounds more like a cat's name to me and also makes me think of the Samsung brand. Still, I prefer it to Sampson, but not as much as just plain Sam, which is what my cousin kid primarily goes by.
I prefer Samanta to Samantha actually, but I don't love it. But, as another user brought up, it would absolutely get confused for Samantha in English-speaking countries

Samson is alright.
I wouldn't use Samanta in an English-speaking country because it would constantly be confused for Samantha.
