I agree, it's very "Chad". Which sucks because it should have been a cool mythology name but the 80's stole it :P

I have an older brother with this name, given to him by our mother the moment she knew she was having a boy. (I guess it's the one name she always liked and used it as she always knew she would when expecting a baby boy.) I like it as well. Despite being seen as moderately dated, there is also just something appealing about it. It's simple; easy to spell, pronounce, and comes with a variety of nn options. My brother often goes by Jay, which is nice as well. 🙂

Nice meaning but it is dated to the 70s/80s. And I agree with your sentiments about the vibe. Jason has also been used on an Australian comedian’s channel that almost makes the name a joke in itself now (at least from my perspective) and I can’t take it seriously.

Well, I think that Jason is a very handsome and respectful name, lol. I vastly prefer it to Mason, which rhymes with Jason.

Same here. Although I don't exactly mind Mason per se, Jason just always seemed more "name-like" to me and even comes with actual nn's. Mason doesn't really have those options. Lol. I also find it to be a bit overrated. I mean it's not terrible, but at the same time nothing spectacular about it either. Never understood it's huge popularity, apart from it riding off the coat tails of Jason pretty much, along with the whole surname/occupational naming trend.

Sound-wise Mason comes with Mace, but then it's awkward because do you spell the nickname Mase or the full name Macen?

Jason and Justin: both megapopular at about the same time, and both seem really, really tedious to me. If I had to choose, I'd go for Justin.

Love this name. Love how it sounds, love the classic appeal, and I think anyone would be proud to have this name. It’s no longer as common anymore, so it would make a good baby name.

Jason is an interesting one. On one hand, I always find it delightful when an ancient name from mythology can insinuate itself so perfectly in popular use that it's completely disguised. There's something fun about that. I love "everyday magic" names like that.

On the other hand, Jason became SO popular that I'm sick of it. There is something inherently arrogant about it, I see what you mean about the Chad stuff. I think it could be a great middle name.
