I can't take Bliss seriously as a name. Beth is OK as a nn, but I prefer Bethan.

I like Bliss but I'm not likely to name a child that. I think Beth is boring. I like many other nicknames for Elizabeth more, like Betty, Eliza, Elly or even Elsie.

Way back in the '7os my mom worked as an EMT in Iowa. There was a place that taught Transcendental Meditation and apparently people there often became psychotic. They were referred to as 'The Bliss Bunnies." That is all I can think of anytime I heard Bliss.

It's got some interesting information, I'm going to call my dad and ask if he remembers any of it. It was so long ago he might not. I first heard this in the '90s, just 20 years later. Now it's 40+ years later.

It’s so bizarre! It sounds like something that should be on some investigative TV show or documentary.

Thank you so much for bringing this up - I'm talking to my dad about and he's was one of the fought it against being taught in the schools (separation of church and state) and wrote about it. I'm off to search the Fairfield Ledger

There was a gorgeous girl about five years older than me in high school named Eliza Bliss Maki, and she went by Bliss, so I associate it with her.
