Don't care for it for girl but it's fine for boy or I prefer Sunny for girl.

I don't even care for the name on a boy, but at least on a boy it makes sense.

Sunny is much better - for both genders to be honest. Has the same vibe as Junior because it has "son" right at the beginning.

I prefer Sunny

We call our friend Sonja "Sonny" (pron. Saw-nee). I would really go for Sunny, though, as others have mentioned. I've always thought Sunny would make a great nickname for Susanna.

Don't like it for either especially for a girl

I know a boy Sonny and mainly because of that I cant see "Sonny" on a girl (also because the name "Sonny" is mainly masculine)Just use Sunny.

Better as a nickname. If I heard it I'd assume it was Sunny (which is also better as a nickname).

Sonny on a boy is bad enough; it's just a generic, not-always-respectful placeholder name to call a boy or young man you don't know the name of and probably aren't happy with. On a girl it's as stupid as that plus it'd be essentially calling her Boy or Bud or Mac or Hoss.

I love Sonny, but only for a boy. I prefer Sunny for a girl.

Why? Just why? It makes zero sense to name a girl Sonny! Just use Sunny for crying out loud lol
