I think Eileen is a great name! I'm usually not an "een" name fan, but I make an exception for Eileen.
I'm surprised by how popular Eileen is (in the U.S.)! I guess the love for Isla/Ayla helped.
I like Eileen. My favorite "-een" names are Albertine, Amantine, Bernadine, Celandine, Celestine, Delphine, Eglantine, Ernestine, Geraldine, Helene, Irene, Leontine, Leopoldine, Martine, Melusine, Rosaline, Rosine, and Thomasine.

Eileen is one of my favorites.
Of other feminine *-een* names on my list is:
Colleen
Kathleen
Maureen
Never met anyone named any of those, as they're not Danish names.
I have one male name of that criteria: Steen. I've met a few of those in my lifetime, as it was a name used a lot in my generation, that one and the Sten variant, and those before mine (1977).

I think een names will have a Renaissance. I'm seeing hints of people favouring names that I associate with kind of dorky 60s or 70s vibe, and the eens fit right in with that sort of crowd. My husband likes the name Eileen, so the fans are out there!
I could see stuff like Francine, Helene, Nadine, Janine, Jolene and Kathleen making a comeback. Maybe not a huge one, but something. Some of the een names have a hipster sort of ring to them. They are daring in their awkward realness.

Originally I was not a fan of these names, but seeing other people appreciate them is changing my mind. They do have a certain pluck that I genuinely admire.

Agree. There's an Eileen on my family tree, born in the 19teens or 19twenties. Not a name I like, but better than her sister Edna. I've met a couple of Colleen people who are now in their 70s, as is the only Doreen I know. I don't like the look or the sound of any of them, and the longer they stay undisturbed in the past, the better. By the way, the Doreen I know is actually Dorothy Doreen Lastname; the explanation, such as it is, was that her father had very fixed ideas.
