I like the sound, but not this spelling. I'd prefer it without the t. With the t it looks too much like maggot to me.

Grew up with a Margo, thought was exotic when I was a kid. Still think it's okay. I prefer this spelling.

I'm neutral about this and I like Megan more than this.

I love it, though I prefer the spelling Margo. It’s very sweet, gentle but strong, and very versatile. It is however very popular at the moment.

I like it, but even though I KNOW what the name is, my brain still tries to tell me it’s Mar-got, like for-got.
I really prefer Margo and Margaux, even though I know Margot is a legitimate, normal spelling for it.
Other than my weird nitpicky feelings, I think it is a cheerful name, and reminds me of a 1950’s young woman with a bob and cute hat.

I really love it. It's the spelling I would use as well (because it makes me think of the movie ''La Reine Margot''). My fiancé likes the spelling Margaux over Margot. Nope. For some reason that spelling makes my skin crawl.

A friend of my daughter's recently had a baby and named her Margot! Yeah!

I don't hate it exactly, but it'd never be a possibility for actual use. I love Margaret, and could live with Marjorie; I don't see the point of using French names like Margot or Frenchish versions like Isabelle when there are lovely English versions available. In Dutch and I think also in Afrikaans, the -t is pronounced in Margot, which is also a turn-off.

I like it, though it's not my favorite Margaret name.

I used to hate it, because I found all the Margaret-type names very frumpy, but now I think it's really cool. It's so 60s chic.

When I was younger I used to like it and in recent years Margot Robbie is a great link. I would not use it anyway because it's a diminutive, like Rita. I much prefer Margherita (that in Italy means "daisy" too) or Margarita (the original Green means "pearl".

I think it's very attractive in sound, much prettier than Margaret. But I don't care much for the looks of it, just one letter off maggot, and the variations don't do it for me either. Margo looks incomplete, and Margaux looks way too fluffy.
I know a couple Margots. One is a bit older than me and was a teacher my own daughter had when she was very little. The other is about sixty and is the physician's assistant at our doctor's office. I like her but she tends to be officious and overstep what I think a PA should do; basically she thinks she's the doctor's mini-me and his gatekeeper. His office manager is that way too and it's annoying. I think he's given his staff a bit too much free rein. Oh well, that's not here or there.

Basically, when it comes to alternatives to Margaret, I like Margot but in practice, I prefer Marguerite or Margarita.

I prefer Margo, but I don't like either.
