Typically I'd associate it more with Peter Pan so overall, I find it pleasant enough. Especially as a nickname for the more heavy Gwendolyn or the like.
My eldest daughter (11) had a classmate about who was named Wendy (just Wendy instead of nickname) and she was a cute kid.
