[Opinions] elegant names
I'm thinking of elegant names and Deirdre, Nora, Alison comes to mind. What else and what do you think of these names?

Replies

I don't like Deidre. I never thought it was elegant or pretty for that matter. I can see Nora and Alison although they wouldn't have been my first thought for elegance. Nora is okay and I like Alison a lot.
These names evoke elegance to me, whether or I like them or nor:

Persephone
Josephine
Seraphine

etc.
It's so interesting to see how people view certain names. Alison is the opposite of elegant to me - it's like the classic "girl next door who was always a bit of a tomboy" sort of name. Alison has a perpetually youthful air to it, and youth and elegance do not go together in my mind. Deirdre is elegant for sure, I agree there. Nora, I could see the elegance in as well. Norah is more cozy-homey, but Nora has a sharp edge.
I often find a certain breed of "old lady" names very elegant.Estelle
Celeste
Celine, Selene

Vivienne, Vivian
Adele
Camille
Gloria

That's hilarious! I forgot about Casandra and agree! Hoping someone sees the elegance in Alison!
