Most of these are more frilly than elegant to me. They are beautiful certainly, but fussy rather than elegant, which has a sleeker kind of energy. Celeste is probably the most elegant one here, in my books.I'm with Anneza; shorter, cleaner versions of some of these names are definitely elegant (Isabel or Isobel, Vivian, Gabriela, Juliet).
What's the difference between frilly and elegant?
Simple! Elegant is not frilly; frilly is not elegant. Frills are intended to be decorative, and get added on as an afterthought - think a 1930s dressing table or chest of drawers, full of and covered with little embroidered cloths with crochet-lace edges. Elegance is more minimalist.
Oh, interesting. I always thought it was elegant names I like, but I guess it’s frilly ones I like.
Objectively, I agree with all of them, though I don't like them all.
I would add Rosalie, Marion, Theresa and Anneliese.
I find names like Isabella, Juliette and Vivienne much less elegant than Isabel, Juliet and Vivien.
I feel like Isabelle and Viviana are the most elegant variations. I agree with Juliet, though.
Very Euro-centric and sickly sweet.Elaine, Noor, Laila, Clare, Therese - some of my choices
Oh wow, a collection of some of my favorite names! Lol, the list feels quite Victorian. I like:Genevieve
Anastasia
Penelope
Juliette (though I prefer Juliet)
Gabriella
Vivienne
Celeste
Josephine
Eleanor
Evangeline
Cordelia
Octavia
LillianI used to like Adelaide and Sophia, but I got sick of them. And I vastly prefer Amalia to Amelia, which has "meal" in the middle of it (and makes me think of "mealy"). Aurora is difficult for me to say, unless it's very slowly, and Beatrice (and Beatrix) sound like orders - like you're telling someone to be a... something. My least favorites from this list are Rosalind, which has always sounded cold and standoffish to me (and I'm not even partial to -lind names), and Clementine, because "clem" is, imo, one of the least attractive syllables ever. Reminds me of phlegm, except somehow worse.
I hate Eleanor, but I think it is objectively elegant. Clementine, though, is not. It sounds relatively childish to me.
Names I think should’ve been included:
Cassandra
Tatiana
Emmeline
Mariana
