Well, it should be kinda cool, but I think it ends up being unappealing.
As someone's name, I guess it evokes landscapes and sunshine, more than people-things - but it isn't as pure about it as, say, Sierra or Shasta.
I'm from California, and I love it the way one does, but I wouldn't ever have liked being named after it.
I guess it's about like America as a name. A naming curio, that will stay peculiar for a reason. Not too bad to bear, though, for one named it. Especially since it can be shortened to a normal sounding nickname.
