Yeah, that would be very confusing.
yeah, but no joke, i found out that some distant relatives of my grandma's were two full sisters called Emilia and Amelia (i double checked, they're 100% different people). It was probably pronounced more like a-MEY-lya and ey-MEE-lya, but would probably still get confusing lol
That's so sad. I already flinch when people say Amanda or Savannah. I can't imagine only being off by a vowel sound.
the families had tons of kids, so i guess they ran out of ideas so they found a basic sound they liked and went with it. There was also an Otilia and Odilia (sisters) and in another branch of the family Alda and Alva (sisters again). I had to verify they were separate people. I think they took matching sibling names a little too close to matching exactly!
