[Opinions] Planet Names (WDYT?)
What do you think of planet names?
The prettiest are Venus and Jupiter (preferably for a girl)
Saturn and Neptune are okay but not ideal
Pluto and Mercury (Merc, Marie Curie) are great for a pet
Uranus will only torment a child
No one is naming their child Mars. Maybe Lars.
And nobody is going to name their child straight-up Earth. But there could be strange alternates that I can see like Eartha/Earthia.

Pluto is probably second worst because of it being the name of Mickey's dog. Uranus is obviously worst of all. I have a vague memory of Venus and Saturn being the names of Whoopi Goldberg's characters children in the film soap dish. I think I remember her saying something like it was one of her biggest mistakes LOL but I can't remember for sure. Venus feels the most usable to me, but Mars could possibly work on a male I think.
I actually know a real life Mars (chosen name). There's also the singer Mars Argo. There's also Bruno Mars. Mars is a lot less weird on a real human than a lot of the other planet names imo.
I also ironically like Jupiter for a girl, it's on my GP list. Venus reminds me of Venus Williams, and it is a nice name.
Neptune reminds me of the fish god exclusively. I'm so drawn to Saturn for its dark aura but it's way too intimidating for real life usage. I also find it a sad name.
Semi-off topic, but I also knew a Lars.

Mars I think is one of the more usable ones. My brother for the longest time wanted to name a son Mars. I also love Venus for a woman but it’s a lot to live up to!
I love the idea of naming after the moons of planets!
Rhea, Phoebe, Atlas, Calypso, Helene, Pandora, and Daphnis from Saturn.
Callisto, Amalthea, Elara, Adrastea, Lysithea, Kore, Leda, Ersa, Eirene from Jupiter.
Cordelia, Ophelia, Bianca, Desdemona, Juliet, Portia, Cressida, Miranda, Rosalind, Belinda, Perdita, Francisco, Caliban, Prospero, Stefano, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, and Oberon from Uranus (notice a theme?)
Neith of Venus and Charon of Pluto.
Thalassa, Galatea, Despina, and Larissa from Neptune.

I disagree, I think Mars is one of the more usable ones (not that I will use it).
I like Jupiter a lot but if you're naming a girl Juniper might be better. I think we all agree that Uranus is a bad name. As for all the other ones, they're all very pretty but hard to imagine on an actual human. I love a lot of them as character names though.
I think Venus is suitable, though unfortunately a little sexualized. Keep in mind, the planets are named after gods, so Jupiter is masculine (Roman equivalent of Zeus), and I actually do like it a bit. I do agree about Saturn, Neptune, Mercury and Pluto, though maybe they can work as middle names. I think they could potentially be pulled off on a person, if the person is right. A child called Uranus would have a hard life. I've actually heard of a kid called Mars lol.

I’ve seen Mars used a lot on non-binary people. I think it’s cool.
I think they’ve all got merit except Earth and Uranus—that’s just awful.

Don't like any as names
Jupiter is the only one that sounds like a name to me. Venus is too loaded with teasing potential with the "Goddess of Love" association.
Mars is one of the most popular. It's used slightly more than Venus, slightly less than Jupiter. I think all three are alright. I'd prefer to see Jupiter as masculine.
My personal favorite is Neptune. It's kind of ungainly but in a vivid, musical way.
I don't really like any others but do like Plutina, Plutarch, Eartha, Urania, Mercutio. I want to like Saturnina / Saturnino, but the connection to saturnine seems like a downer.

I don't necessarily like these names for humans, but I do appreciate them. I like Saturn (well, it's my favorite planet, too), Mercury, Venus, and Neptune for their sounds! Out of every listed name, I have to say that I like Lars the most; wonderfully handsome.
Mars is actually my favorite. I also like Jupiter for a boy.
Neptune and Mercury could work as a middle. I'm not sure about Saturn, but Saturnus could definitely work.
Uranus and Pluto don't seem very usable. And Venus is my least favorite.
