[Opinions] Dee or DD as a nn
Is it better for m or f? What names suit these best? What letter is the best as a nn?

#Dd

Probably female, Deirdre or Denise. DeDe or DeeDee, Dido even, like the singer. It could be a boy's name, like wasn't there a Dee/DeeDee Ramone in the Ramones?

Female most definitely. Dee is more dignified than DD

I see this name as feminine. Didi is pretty cute. When I was a teenager I had a friend we called Dee, because her initials were "DD" (her first name was Danielle). I currently know a woman who goes by Dee, her first name is Deanna. Delia and Desiree would be nice full names for a Dee as well. I like CC, BB, GG, JJ, VV, and TT in terms of these "double initial" nicknames.

I see Dee and DD as being more masculine, however if spelled Deedee / Dede / Didi, I think it's feminine.
For girls, I would picture it as a nickname for Dorothy or Deirdre. I guess for boys it could be short for any number of names that start with a D. I would advise against using Dee because of the internet term, but I think DD is fine. If spelled like Deedee/Dede, it reminds me of Dedé Mirabal, who was really called Bélgica Adela, so I suppose it could be short for anything containing the D sound.

It's cute on a girl. A friend of a friend, whose name is Roberta "Birdie," named her daughter Deborah after her mother (the child's grandmother) but calls her Didi (or Dede—I'm not sure how she'd spell it).

In general, nicknames just happen. Planning them is OK, but it's still very likely that something else will become that child's/person's nn.FWIW, I know a Dorothy Doreen. She's retired, has always been known as Doreen, and her only nn, not often used, is Dor, not DD or Dee.

Deirdre comes to mind for the nickname DD (though I'd spell it as Deedee).
