[Opinions] Isabelle or Isabel??
Which? and who's sick of this name and its variants?
Replies
I prefer Isabelle. I like the look better. It feels like it's meant to be a fancy name so it needs the fancy letters. I used to be sick of it, but less so now that it's dropped a bit on the charts.
Isabel, easily. I find it unexciting.
Isabelle looks fuller and prettier.
Isabel. Isabelle is too pretty and dainty.
Isabel was at it's peak in DC when I left. There aren't many around here.
My niece is Isabelle nn Izzy. Not my cup of tea, but it suits her. She's a joyful, sweet girl.

It’s just so pretty! Isabel is kind of ugly to me.

Isabel
I like the name Isabel very much, personally! I admire the long history and cultural-fluidity of the name.
Isabelle is fine in French. In English, where it never gets the French pronunciation, it is tastelessly ornate. I prefer Isobel to Isabel, but either would be much better than Isabelle. None of them is very popular where I live, so tedium isn't an issue.
I would rate the more common variants as follows:
1 Isobel
2 Isabel
3 Isabella
4 Isabelle
I'm not sick of them. Maybe Isabella was/is overexposed but it's still a lovely choice.

Isabel always for me. Feels much more classic seeming and grownup. It's like the -elle ending asks to be spoken-up, as in GabriELLE and MichELLE, it should be IsabELLE. But I only like this name pronounced IZ-a-bel. I know Isabelle is supposed to be like that - so what's the point of the frills? To look French? I don't get it. Unless she's a French speaker. Is it to get nn Belle? Not my thing.
I am not sick of it. I've only met one person with it. Her mom's Hispanic and the name is spelled Isabela. I think it's nice, and I think I would even think Isabella and Isabelle were nice if I saw them on real people. Beats clunky ol' Evelyn, Amelia, Harper ... and maybe even Olivia, by a small margin. I'm relatively tired of Olivia.

I don't really have a solid opinion. I think it depends on the person? I like how Isabelle is elegant but a little cutesy and how Isabel seems more no nonsense but still pretty. It also depends on what combo it's in. Like Isabel would be a better middle name for one name, but Isabelle for another. I don't mind the name Isabelle/Isabel, though it's pretty popular where I live, so I don't pay it too much attention. It's pretty enough, though it can get old after a long time and after a lot of Isabelles and Isabels.
I prefer Isabelle. And I’m actually not sick of it anymore, it was too much for a while but I think it’s reached equilibrium.
