[Opinions] If you had to...
Pick an -ey, ay name for your daughter, that used to be a surname, which one would you pick and why?E.g. Ashley, Lindsay, Whitney, Sydney, Oakley etc.

Probably Ainsley. I could also see Conley on a girl. And I could be convinced to use Eluney but that wasn't a surname.
Ashley, Shirley, or Hailey. I find Ashley pleasant, and I think Shirley is adorable, and I sort of like Hailey and idk why exactly.

I'd probably go with Salley, though I definitely prefer Sally.
People will hate me for this, but I love Paisley, ok? It's so cute and sweet. I just love the -ais sound (I also love Maisie). It sticks out like a sore thumb on my list, but I adore it. Another consideration would be Lacey, I think.
If my grandma and I had a healthy relationship, I'd use Shirley, which is her name. Shirley is great because it's got the retro charm of Shirley Temple (which is honestly one of my favourite drinks) and has cool literary ties to Shirley Jackson and Charlotte Bronte. And "Shirl" is really fun. Lots of things happening there that I like. BUT since that's not possible, I like Tierney. It's usually used for boys, but I like it fine for a girl too. It feels so femme fatale-esque. Oakley is cute too, it's very kitschy and I do love that. Paisley also isn't so bad although I don't associate that with a surname, so it feels like cheating. But I love Paisley print. Bailey is also nice. It feels friendly, but maybe that's from all the dogs I know named this.

Hartley. It makes no sense because it means male deer clearing, but I like the sound.
Definitely Lindsey.
Hadley. I like the spelling, and it has more substance than other -ey names, like Lindsey, Kinsley or Tenley.
Either Bonney, Brierley or Ridley
I’ve been thinking about Hartley lately
Hathaway! I've also long been partial to Abernathy (not an -ey/-ay ending, though).
I love Lindsay!
Ainsley, Paisley, Kensley, and Shirley would be my picks
I'd pick Ashley, and happily. It used to be my top favorite name and we considered using it for our daughter.
...but if an "ey" or "ay" ending was required, not just a surname?
I forgot. I guess Lilley. :/
Feminine: Audrey, May, Loveday Unisex: Hadley, Keeley, Lacey, Darcey, Sunday, Delaney, Holiday, Valley, Vianney, Waverley I like/love these names for a variety of reasons. Audrey for elegance and association with actress Audrey Hepburn, May for its simplicity and sweetness, and Loveday for its whimsy and the meaning behind the name. I would be more inclined to use Audrey for a first name and keep May and Loveday for the middle spot (not in the same combo of course). The unisex names are mostly names that appeal to me for their sound, look, imagery, meaning or cultural association.

Oakley, Delaney, Waverley (like Waverly), Marley, Whitney, KelseyProbably one of those. It would depend on my mood or the combo. Today I will say Delaney Ruth Nimue. I feel like Delaney is one of the most consistent, and I always lowkey liked it.Eta: oh, I didn't think of Loveday and Holiday, but if those count, they would be in the "maybe" group too

Probably Oakley because I like it for some reason.
