[Opinions] Jerome
Wdyt?

Replies

I'm surprised people are saying the have never heard it in real life. It's quite popular in French (most often spelled Jérôme or Jérome). I can remember at least 2 or 3 at my school, growing up in the early 2000s in Québec. And believe me, it's not associated with one cultural group in particular. To me it's a nice enough name. Not my fav, because it feels a bit common. But it's a fine name to grow up with.

Never encountered it IRL, and my only associations with it are Jerome Kern, d. 1945, and Jerome K Jerome, d. 1927. So it seems pleasantly dated, but very rare rather than old-fashioned.
I don't like it, I sounds incomplete to me.
It's not that handsome in my opinion, but better than Jermaine. I prefer other J names like Jeremiah, Jeremy, Jeffrey and Jebediah.
It's quite charming. Much better than other J names.
Love, love, love. One of my top names for a boy, but my husband wasn't a fan.We used to have a poster who insisted it was a black name and therefore unusable for a white child. Bizarre.Checked the comments and found this gem:
Mentioned to someone that I thought this would be a nice name for a son in the future, and the person I was talking to cracked up telling me it's only a name for a black man, which wouldn't be the case for me unless I adopted... But if you look at the history of the name you certainly don't need an African background to use it. Still, if you live in the US and aren't black and use this name for your son, be prepared for possible confusion.

I adore Jerome! I love that its meaning refers to its nature as a name.
