I prefer Cathy to Kathy for some reason. I don't think they will be preferred by most parents for two reasons: Cathy and Kathy might sound too outdated as legal names and NNs, and secondly, despite Kate and Katie being more popular, they sound fresher. Princess Kate doesn't hurt the name's image, although I doubt that she has much to do with it. People always liked the name because pf its simple femininity. I honestly prefer Kit and Kitty. The only difference is, Kitty does not work as a legal name, but my wishful thinking tells me that Kit still could.
