I ask because there's a game called Marco Polo. I've usually seen it played in pools but I guess you could play it on land too. You blindfold everyone and the person who is It tries to find the others, occasionally calling out "Marco!" and the others then call out "Polo!" so It has to find people by sound. The trick is to not get caught by the others. There's an art to calling out Marco often enough to figure out where people are but not so often you get caught.

Maybe this was just a nickname referring to the game. The adults were calling the kid that.
Were they playing the game, otherwise not a good combo
You just reminded me of that game! I can hear it in my head now and they were not..
