[Opinions] Re: Josslyn Hay and Family
Goodness! I'd clean forgotten about him; luckily, Wikipedia hasn't. Though they don't say why he was sacked from Eton! One can but guess.Josslyn looks shoddily modern. Jocelyn would be equally unisex and looks better. Victor is fine.
Myra? Anagram? I far prefer Mary. Idina? Combination of Ida and Dina? I'd prefer Ida or, preferably, Dinah.
Diana is positively ordinary: lucky her. Denyse would be better as Denise.
Edith and Maude are both vintage classics that time has passed by. Molly - why not?
I quite like Gilbert, find George boring though I love Georgina, and Reginald is fine as long as it isn't shortened to Reg or Reggie. As a second mn, I imagine he was safe!
Muriel is a family name, and I rather wish it wasn't. Not a favourite at all. Agnes sounds better in French, but as a mn that doesn't matter.
Herbrand Edward ... had to be House of Lords! Though, I've looked him up too and the present De la Warrs have developed a taste for William as a fn, which pleases me greatly.
Avice - Avis might have been a better choice. Ela is puzzling and dreadful: Ella is bad enough, but making it moult an L is unwise. And then Muriel after her mother. Better than Agnes, just.
