[Opinions] Re: Emily & Vanessa
in reply to a message by Guest
Emily is a family name going back to the 19th century. I would happily have used it as a fn before it went popular; Alice Emily sounds good to me.I was at school with a Vanessa who was pleasant but unremarkable. Then I knew a Vanessa at uni who was tiny, beautiful and very nice: a good friend dated her and they were an excellent pair, but her parents suddenly took her out of that university and sent her to another one far away, having found out (not that it was ever a secret!) that he belonged to a different religion from them. This has left me with a very positive impression of the name but also a whole lot of sadness and anger. Not that it's got anything to do with the name, but I can't help remembering the situation.
