[Opinions] Re: Long Names
in reply to a message by hello_1234
My reasoning is similar to what Obetsy posted. I prefer to give a longer and more formal name to a child, with a fun or cute nickname for when they are with family or friends. At least once they become adult, they can use the longer name on their resume or in a more formal setting. I know not everyone agrees. It's really just a personal preference. And to be fair, some nicknames have now become pretty common and wide-spread names (Alex comes to mind).
According to my PNL, my longest favorite names are 10 letters:
Emmanuelle (nn Manu or Many)
Evangeline (nn Evie)
Maristella (I'd probably just shorten it to Mari)
Marguerite (nn Margot)
Marjolaine (nn Marjo)
Maximilien (nn Max).
Don't hesitate to rate my different PNLs: http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/246179
