[Opinions] Spencer for a girl...
My neice is Spencer Lily J----, we mostly call her Lily. Spencer is my mother's maiden name which is why my brother and his wife used it. I didn't like it for a girl at first, but its grown on me. Probably because she's my neice and she's adorable! What do you think?

I know a girl named Spenser. I always thought that it was cute on a girl, maybe because the name really fits her.

When I first saw the post as "Spencer for a girl" I thought maybe Princess Diana was being honored in some way (Diana Spencer), but in which case I would have chosen Diana. Since it is the mother's maiden name I would have used it as a mn, I dislike surnames as fns for girls. Lily is pretty.
I also think of "Spencer for Hire".

Normally I don't like surnames as fns, especially on girls. This combo works for me, though...probably b/c you call her Lily. I think Lily Spencer J--- would sound just fine, too. About 5 years ago (before I had kids of my own), I thought Spencer, Reece & Dexter would make a great sibset for brothers. ;o)Check Out Blinkyou.com for thousands of custom glitters and layouts

I would have used it as the middle name for a girl since it is her mothers maiden name, especially since she gets called Lily most of the time anyway

Spencer is all boy in my opinion...one of my faves in fact. I don't think it sounds feminine at all, although I'm sure your niece is adorable :) I wouldn't mind Lily Spencer, since it is your mother's maiden name.

I dislike unisex names on girls in general, so I don't care for it. But I have to say I like Spencer on a girl better than Mackenzie, actually, for some reason. Jaclyn Smith (the actress, has a line of clothes at K-Mart, too, I believe :b) has a daughter named Spencer, if I'm not mistaken, but that's the only time I've seen it on a girl. I like Lily much better. Lily Spencer J---- would've been great, esp. since she's called Lily anyway. :-/

I don't really like Spencer for a boy OR a girl, I like Lily though. My sister has a friend (girl) named Spencer and it doesn't really suit her, just my opinion. ;)Mum to Hayley Anne ;)

Lily Spencer would have been far nicer in my opinion. Spencer is much more of a masculine name to me.

I think Spencer is horrible on a girl. If they are calling her Lily why not just name her Lily Spencer. That makes no since.

I agree too.

should be noted...My brother's wife's name is Shannan, but she goes by the nickname Shane. So she really had no reservations about giving a girl a masculine name.
