[Opinions] Re: Alberta girl names 2023 that only one girl got
Not the misspelled Elegance! Oh no...Some of these are going to be pretty damn awkward to have as legal names once these kids reach adulthood -- Ambition, Beautiful, Beretta, Curly-Ann, Ellegance, Foxx, France, Gaininlord-Kleodyah, Happiness, Hyker, Justyce, Kathysgirl, Lady-Annelle, Lyric-Love, Margot-Heartberry, Night-Sky, Otter, Oslo, Paradise, Rainbow, Rhythm, Seneca, Scylla, Scottlynne, Silva-Light, Steele(y), Sprinkie, Swayzee, Sweetlyn, Tokyo, Triumph, Darling... just...oh no... some were seriously cringe. Can you imagine being 30 and getting a mortgage or sitting your bar exam or working as a GP and having to be like 'Yep, my parents in their wisdom called me Rainbow (or Curly-Ann or Night-Sky...) because they didn't think of me being a serious real life adult with a serious real life life'. Ouch. And are we so desperate we're now scraping the bottle of the Roman statesmen, mythological sea monsters and full-arse countries for names? Yeah, I know France is apparently a name... if I met someone and they turned round and went 'Hi, I'm France' I would struggle.Yorcabel is the one that made me snort though, because if it's said how it's written - york-a-bel... I don't normally call names ugly, but that is a pretty ugly sounding name. There are some nice names in the mix though - Andromeda, Briseis, Circe, Cirilla, Elaria, Io, Karuna, Laurelin, Lydian, all decent. There's a few GPs too.I just saw Manrose, that made me laugh too, what is that even meant to be and how is that not obvious bullying fodder. And I have to keep going back to Oslo and wondering why Copenhagen or Stockholm, hell, even Helsinki, didn't make the cut.
