[Opinions] Grier
On here, I know we often see the name Greer labeled as one of the most unattractive names. What do you think of this way to spell it?
This name came to my attention when my newsfeed told me about Brooke Shield's daughter graduating, and wow, Brooke picked a whopper of a name for her kid: Grier Hammond Henchy. Incredible. Her other daughter is Rowan Francis.
What do you think of Grier? If you had to name your daughter Greer but you got to pick the spelling, what would you choose?
(Apologies to Brooke and Grier, I'm sure it's a fine old family name chosen with pride)

I prefer the spelling Grier, but I'm not a fan of the name at all.
I actually really like this name. I would for sure spell it Greer.
I dislike it quite a bit.
I actually had one of my first grad school classes with a girl named Grier. Highly unusual. I asked her if she was named after Greer Garson and she said she wasn't for sure, but that it was a possibility as her mom liked old films but wasn't alive to ask. I prefer Greer personally. I think it is better as a little bridge middle name idea, but I could see theoretically liking it as a first name. It's not necessarily my cup of tea, but I do tend to favor it in the middle spot just fine. It has some old Hollywood class to me due to it's limited number of associations and Ms. Garson.
*worth noting: I know of Garson almost exclusively from some of her films I studied in film class, and know almost nothing of her personal life and personality when living. if she was horrid, that might alter my perception of the idea. As it is, I only know she was a brilliant actress at her craft in the few select films of her I had watched.

Grier Hammond Henchy is so blithely steeped in patrician surnamey ugliness that I can’t criticize it. It knows what it’s doing!
I prefer Grier, actually, because it’s more visually dynamic than Greer. And I find it less offensive than Sloane, Gage, and other ugly names of that ilk.
For fun, combos:
Grier Joanna
Grier Susanna
Grier Penelope
Grier Philippa
Grier Augusta
Grier Gertrude
Grier Agatha
Grier Solveig
Grier Imogen
Grier Lowenna
Grier Imelda
Grier Amabel
Grier Jemima
Grier Lucasta
Grier Jocasta

Grier Lowenna is fun.
Yes! Grier Hammond Henchy is so exquisitely, grotesquely hifalutin and out of touch with reality that I kind of admire it. It sounds like a character from some unholy amalgamation of Faulkner, Tennessee Williams, and Roald Dahl. The fact that the news article was about how Grier wore her mother's wedding dress from her marriage to Andre Agassi (not Grier's father) to her prom is just the cherry on top. Celebrities - they're just like us.
Grier Imogen and Grier Solveig are great, those names work really well together.
