[Opinions] Re: Unusual plant names
Yes:
Agave - middle name, works because it's close to Agape but too "foody" for a first name
Aristea - middle name. nn Ari or Tea, but too 'aristocratic' for a first name
Begonia - middle name, not super attractive but very recognizable as a flower and would be good with a sort of quirky vintage first name
Calliandra - nn Callie, Andra
Caspia - nn Cas, Cassie
Cassiope - nn Cass, Cassie
Celosia - middle name
Hedera - nn Hedy?
Honesty - middle name, but people would just think it's a virtue name
Ilima
Jarrah
Liriope - nn Lira
Lycaste - nn Lyca ?
Neillia - nn Lia; also works if it's the granddaughter of a Neil
Nicandra - nn Nica, Nicky, Andra; also works as granddaughter of a Nicholas, Nicole, etc.
Silene - middle name
Tilia - I'd much prefer if everyone who liked Tilly/Tillie used this instead!
No:
Drosera - reminds me of Drosophila / flies. I know Drosos is "dew" but to me it's all fly lol
Passiflora - maybe this would work, nn Flora, but the word 'Pass' is telling me no
Phlox - not for a human, but I'd use this for a male cat
Salvia - people would just think of Salvia divinorum
