Overall, the Spanish name list focuses on trendy names (Enzo, Thiago, Gael; Noa, Triana, India) while also keeping classics used throughout the years (Manuel, Gonzalo, Nicolás; Sofía, Paula, Ana). Besides, names from Spain's co-official languages are usually present in the list, with Catalan (Marc, Biel; Laia, Ona), Basque (Iker, Julen; Leire, Ainara) and, less often, Galician (Brais, Anxo; Iria, Sabela). English (Izan, Noah, Liam; Mía, Chloe, Isabella) and Arabic (Adam, Mohamed, Amir; Nour, Yasmin, Layan) borrowings also play a major role.Spanish parents tend to choose short names, especially for girls (Leo, Marco, Pol, Nil, Aday; Lara, Zoe, Ona, Iris, Lía). There is also a trend of using short forms as full names, with Lola and Nico being the most notable examples.
