Nellie and Cedar's relationship has stood the test of time. They are living together in a flat in central London, which is cramped, but cosy, every surface and wall covered in art or houseplants. Cedar's career as a sculptor and installation artist has taken off, with their work showcased in major galleries across Europe. Nellie has published two books, and is currently working on her third.

The couple have adopted a Golden Retriever mix who, according to family tradition, is named after a spice.

Nellie and Cedar often visit the Shin-Márquez Bhandaris in Barcelona. Cedar is particularly close to Chika and Nnenne - whenever they visit, they get into long discussions with the sisters about art and literature, and Nellie jokes her mother and aunt prefer Cedar to her.

Iseul is finishing up her degree in wildlife conservation and marine biology. Her conservation projects have taken her to Hawaii and the Philippines. She's far away from home, but often video calls her other family members and sends them beautiful photos of the places she's working in. While she was working in the Philippines, she rescued a talkative parrot whose injured wing did not allow it to return to the wild.

Baz and Ada are in their final and penultimate years of high school, respectively. Baz is undecided between studying engineering and computer science, Ada can't decide whether to pursue the performing arts and fashion design.
