The Simon Family
Aidan and Lee are expecting their first child, a boy. They would prefer a very short (preferably one-, but maybe two-syllable) name, or a longer name with a short nickname. Names they like but can't use include Leo (too close to Lee) and Maxwell, nn Max (too close to their nephew's name, Mac).

The Norris Family
Jill is expecting a daughter. Since she was a little girl, Jill has wanted to name her daughter after her sister, Emily. Unfortunately, Emily absolutely hates her common name, so Jill doesn't feel comfortable giving it to her daughter. Even more unfortunately, Emily's middle name is Bruce, her mother's maiden name, so that's not an option either. Jill is looking for a name that honors her sister in an obvious way but isn't as common as Emily.

Brenna and Jeffrey are expecting twin boys. Brenna likes eccentric and, in her words, "romantic" names, but Jeffrey wants their sons to have "normal" names to balance out their unusual last name. Names that Jeffrey has vetoed include Ashley ("Too girly.") and Algernon ("Just plain weird."). Brenna has rejected his suggestions of Peter ("Sounds like an accountant's name") and Jonathan ("Way too bland"). They're searching for a way to reconcile their different tastes.

(Albert it Peter and Algernon combined - Branden is Dean and Brenna combined. Ashton is Ashley and Jonathan combined and Jeremiah is Jeffrey and Brenna combined.)

Damian and Rose are expecting twins, a boy and a girl. Damian loves the name Adam for a boy, and Rose has her heart set on Evangeline, nn Eve, for a girl, but they have agreed that it would be cruel to use the two names together, so they need to pick one and find a suitable replacement for the other, or replace them both. They both like short, simple names for boys and longer names with short nicknames for girls. Biblical names are a plus, but not a must.

DS/DD: Adam Robert / Chava Rose
(Chava is the Hebrew form of Eve. Robert is kind of a combo of the parents names.)

Mike and Molly are expecting their first child; they don't know the sex. Molly loves the names Morgan and Marin for a boy, and would love to honor Michael by naming their daughter Michaela or Michelle, but Michael has declared that there's far too much alliteration going on in this family already, and has firmly vetoed all M names. Now they need to find names that are similar to those that Molly likes, but don't begin with M.

David and Claire already had names picked out for their future children when they got married in 1997. They settled on Isabella Faith for a girl; at the time, neither name was in the top 100 in the U.S. Since then, however, both names have become too popular for their tastes. They're looking for a less common (i.e., not in the top 100) but not too unusual name that's very similar to Isabella Faith.
