[Opinions] Annette, Annetta and related names
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on here 😬My partner and I are TTC and I’ve started thinking about names. I would like really like to honour my grandmother, and that might be as a middle name but I want to canvas options for a first name. Her name was Annette. I’m open to Annette or Annetta but I’d love the full range of options and they don’t need to be etymologically related as long as the Ann- is there. For example, I love Annora but the flow with the last name isn’t the best but not terrible. So go crazy, please! Anything even somewhat related to the name Annette, I’m open to. I imagine I’ll be back to posting more regularly coming up. I’ve missed y’all a lot ❤️

Anjanette is a lovely, underused gem. It can honor quite a few women - Ann, Annette, Angela, Jane, Janet, Janette.Anjanette Pearl

Welcome back, and happy holidays to you; I'm glad to see you and missed you, too!I love the name Annette, and think it'd be a wonderful homage to your grandmother. Though, I do prefer the name Annetta, because it's even less common and more elegant to me. Annora is also a wonderful name, so I like that as well. Names I'd suggest in order:
Annetta
Annette
Annora
Anne
Etta
Annabeth
Annika
Annmarie
Annelise
Anna
AnnellaIf using it as a middle name, I'd go for (using names from your PNL):
Miriam Annette
Martha Annette
Claudia Annette
Phoebe Annette
Ruby Annette
Lucinda Annette
Rosalie Annette
Maura Annette
Welcome back! I like Annette very much for its vintage charm. Annetta doesn't please me, it seems overdone, but Anita is very nice indeed. What about Suzanne?
Ooh yes, Anthea is a great idea!!
I think Annette is very attractive, and goes well with a lot of first names if it's in the middle name slot. (Not Mary Annette though!)My feeling is, if you want to honor your grandma, just use one of her names. If she had a middle name or a surname that wasn't something like McGillicuddy or Schwarzentruber you could use that for first or middle. If you want a variation, I think Anita is very pretty. You do have to be careful with combos or you end up with something silly like Anita Kane or Anita Mann or Anita Walker. lolI have also heard and liked the name Anitra, which is pronounced like Anita but with an r in there. That would take care of any silly-combos worries.
I also like ...Antoinette. It would also give the option for the cute, bright nn Toni.

Thanks for this. I love Annette a lot too and it’s easy to sell to my partner as a mn but not so much as a fn. I love Imogen Annette and Brigid Annette 😊I’m more looking for different takes on alternatives for Annette, that aren’t necessarily etymologically related, to consider as a first name.
