I would choose Phoebe because I like nearly all the Greek female names that end with that 'ee' sound. Fortunately, I never watched the show Friends.Ruby - it's a very pretty name, but I wouldn't use it (this is my neighbor's dog's name, and a friend's daughter's name)
Sadie - not a fan
Ella - too plain / half a name / no substance
Poppy - this was a term of endearment for a relative, so, no

Phoebe is my sister's name so probably would only use as a middle name.Ruby I like but it has too much of a relevance to the song.Sadie I don't really likeElla I love but would only use it as a nickname for something like Elisabet or HelenaPoppy I like but it's not the bestElla > Poppy > Phoebe > Ruby > Sadie

Ruby because of the RWBY anime xD.
I like Ella too, though.
The rest are so-so for me.
Right now I'd pick Phoebe because of the bird, mythology reference, and it looks more complex than the others. Second choice would be Ruby, then Poppy, then Ella, then Sadie. Sadie doesn't really appeal to me and it reminds me more of a dog than a human.
Ella is good but very plain and boring.
Poppy and Ruby are very similar and I like both, they're both two syllable "-y" word names that evoke bright red things. But Ruby sounds more mature to me because of the sound itself and the darker red color.
I like Phoebe, but it's more muted than the others, a little more sensible. I used to be neutral on it; now I like it, though. The sound can be feeble, but it's a Greek classic with a pretty meaning. I did used to know someone called Phoebe, not very well, and at the time my friends had nicknamed me BB, so whenever her friends yelled for her "Phoebe", I would turn, thinking they said "BB". I think Phoebe would pair perfectly with Naomi, a name I really like.Ruby is very cute, shiny scarlet red, and chipper. I really like it, and I like that it's a vintage name that's back in style, not just a trend. The meaning of being a gemstone name is a little shallow, but still cool.I love Sadie, I think it's adorable and very versatile. I'm biased since it's my dog's name, though (although I did have a say in naming her). I love it as a nickname for Sarah, and the fact that it means princess.Ella is sweet, almost too sweet. Sometimes it makes my teeth hurt a little. It also gives a slight mean girl stereotype to me. However, in the right mood it can be smooth, flowing, elegant, and beautiful.Poppy is lovely, also very cute and sweet, but I think it sounds better in a British accent (my accent) and I live in the US. There's also the fact that it sounds like Pop, like the nickname for a father or grandfather. But I love the symbolism of poppy flowers for remembrance. I picture Poppy as a little girl in pigtails.Overall, I would choose Sarah "Sadie" for a child, if this is a universe without my dog (I wouldn't name a child after a dog apart from in extenuating circumstances). For a real life child right now, I would probably choose Ruby. Although I could be persuaded to choose Phoebe as well.
If I had to choose one it would be Ruby. It's timeless, beautiful and has family ties as I had a great-grandpa on both sides named Reuben and Rubin. Phoebe is okay. It feels a bit flimsy and immature, but that might just be the Friends association.Sadie is adorable. I also have seen it age and have this in my family, but almost every dog I knew growing up was named Sadie.Ella - I do love this name, but we already have one in our family.Poppy is the only one I don't like. I've never gotten the appeal. I realize it is a flower, but I can't get over all the other things I think of, like a name for a grandpa, poppyseeds and drug tests, soda pop, popcorn, just the popping noise and how easily a typo could lead to a kid named Poppy having a nametag at school that says Poopy.
I'd choose Ruby. It's almost too cute, but it's the one I actually like.Phoebe just sounds like a squeaky bird noise, and like a flaky airhead. Phoebe on "Friends" wasn perfectly named.Ella is as dull as saltines.Sadie is a dog's name first and foremost, and an elderly Jewish grandmother in some 1950s comedian's routine second.Poppy just sounds like baby talk.
Actually i like them in that order. I'd pick Phoebe. I'd only use the first 3 names
I chose Phebe (this spelling) for a planet, Belphoebe for a moon (in my writing) and Phoebe is a bird name. I don’t use any of the listed names for children, except I don’t mind if Ella is short for Elizabeth/Elisabeth/Élisabeth.
Phoebe - pleasant, deserves its popularity but might not retain it for long.
Ella - not a favourite, but certainly second-best. I'd prefer Eleanor or Helen.
Poppy - I really don't like flower names, and this one sounds too much like Pappie (Afrikaans for Daddy).
Ruby - I like jewel names even less. This one shortens to Rube, as does Reuben (m): unattractive at best.
Sadie - I don't enjoy nicknames becoming full names, but I break my own rule and really like Sally. Sadie, I'm afraid, just doesn't make the grade.
I like Phoebe. It's captivating and effervescent, and reminds me of shepherdesses lying in meadows bathed by the moonlight.I don't like Ruby at all, or any gem names, for that matter (for girls - I like Jasper for a boy). I imagine a Ruby to be childish and mischievous. It reminds me of word "rube", ie country bumpkin.I don't like Sadie either. Sarah is boring, but serious and respectable - Sadie lacks these qualities Ella is sweet, if not particularly exciting. It's fun and jazzy, like a flapper.I like Poppy - it's not an all-time favourite, but I don't think it deserves its reputation. It's plucky, very English, a bit wistful because of the WW1 association. My ranking: Phoebe > Ella > Poppy > Ruby > Sadie
Phoebe, because of its ties to Greek mythology. The meaning is brilliant (pun intended) and it's not very common, at least in the US. Ruby is short and sweet, and I love gemstone names. Glad to see it's becoming more and more popular. Sadie is cute, both as a diminutive of reliable but overused Sarah and as a name on its own. Ella is fine, but it needs a deserved break. And finally, while Poppy may sound cutesy, it's a beautiful flower. All in all:Phoebe > Ruby > Sadie > Poppy > Ella
Ruby and Phoebe are my favorites. Sadie's a nickname, Ella is less substantial than a breeze, and Poppy is ridiculous.
Ruby > Ella > Poppy > Phoebe > SadieI like Ruby, Ella and Poppy roughly the same, but with a slight preference for Ella and Ruby, and I don't really like Sadie and Phoebe at all. Sadie is sort of a dog name to me.
I would choose Ella, because it has the prettiest sound in my opinion, and seems the most timeless. My least favorite is Poppy, just because I don’t love the “pop” sound, but all of them are pretty.
