Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria, an ancient city with a storied history. It's a beautiful name and if you're worried about "overuse" the spelling with an "f" is less common than with a "ph." It retains the wisdom-linked meaning regardless of spelling. If you don't know anyone with the name, use it. It will travel well and your child will add a "face" to it. Having a human being to associate the name with is vastly different from letters on a screen.
